Seasonal check ins and notable aspects

Sun in Libra

The sun moves into Libra (September 23rd – October 22nd). This is a time to speed back up, be social, focus on others, friendships, and love. We move out of our introspective hermit energy and enter a time of celebrating the fall, a new season, a time of beauty and balance.

What is Libra and what does this mean?

Libra is the scales, balance, the Venus ruled cardinal air sign brings new beginnings, fresh starts and a change in weather. Being ruled by Venus makes Libra season one of the most beautiful times of the year! Leaves changing, bright colors, decorations coming out to celebrate Halloween. Being an air sign means this is a season to be social, fight for justice, connect with others, and move. Cardinal signs are our starters, they start the seasons and have the creative ability to come up with new ideas and move forward with the work that needs to be done to turn them into reality! Be careful not to take on too many unfinished projects, a common tenancy during these cardinal seasons. Libra represents the 7th house of the “other” putting an importance on relationships and important people in our lives. At best, libra’s are social, fun, extroverted, friendly, and loving. At their worst they can be shallow, gossipy, indecisive, and overly conflict avoidant.

Notable Transits – October

Mercury just went retrograde towards the end of September in the sign of Libra. Making our minds a bit more foggy and brings up the potential for exes or old unfinished business to resurface from the past. Be careful when you sign contracts, use technology, or have difficult conversations. Don’t be scared, but be aware of your actions! This transit goes direct on the 18th.

Pluto goes direct on October 6th. This is a good time to accept what changed during its retrograde period and start to push towards professional goals. In the sign of hard working Capricorn, pluto is the planet of death, rebirth, and transformation. Look for big changes when it comes to work and power.

Saturn goes direct on October 10th. Saturn the planet of life lessons and serious interactions has been causing a lot of slow down and retrospection while retrograding. When it moves direct it will bring back its power and cause everyone to pay attention to newfound maturity, resolving big issues, and bringing a more realistic vision of what’s to come.

Jupiter goes direct on October 18th. The planet of luck and expansion brings us a good time to attend social gatherings and try new things. In the sign of quirky, non conventional, community focused, and sociable air sign Aquarius. Bringing big change, clarity about your role in society, tolerance, and following big dreams.

Sun in Virgo

The sun is moving into Virgo (August 23rd – September 22nd). This is a time to slow down, retreat within, go back to our schedules, and get serious. We are coming out of  Leo season, the season of the sun, creativity, movement, and showiness, and to now head into a time of retrospection again and find some grounding. The fire we just left loves to move and go, but earth loves to take a step back and enjoy where they are in the moment.

What is Virgo and what does this mean? Virgo is the Virgin, the perfectionist, the hermit. A mutable earth sign. Mutable signs end the seasons and are great at following through with ideas, projects, and finalities. This is the sign that ends the summer and brings a focus of school, work, or a steady routine of any kind back to focus. Virgo is an earth sign and is very grounded in their thoughts, also being ruled by Mercury they are great thinkers, communicators and tend to like a more practical and logical approach to life. Virgo represents the 6th house of schedule, daily routine, health, fitness, pets, systems, analytics, work habits, organization, and service. Finding a sudden importance on those topics will become more prominent in our lives right now. At best a Virgo is logical, practical, a great planner, clean, organized, loyal, and very systematic. At their worst a Virgo can be overly critical, perfectionistic, and can set too high of standards for themselves and others at times.

Notable Transits – September

What should we look out for this month and how could it affect us?

Uranus retrograde is the most noteworthy transit this month. Going retrograde August 19th and staying until January 18th of next year in the sign of Taurus. Uranus is all about sudden changes, forward thinking, and  being unique and different. It’s the planet that rules quirky Aquarius and loves constant changes and anything weird or out of the ordinary. Currently being in the stubborn sign of Taurus is going to cause a  decent amount of butting heads, disagreements, and hesitation when it comes to big changes, especially within the collective since Aquarius rules people and groups.

While Uranus is the only sign going retrograde this season, we do still have many other planets and asteroids retrograde until at least October. When planets are retrograde it’s a great time to take a step back and think about our next moves, what we really want and how we will want to get there. Making big decisions and changes may not come easy right now, but it is a good time to rest and retreat internally, especially before we have our next Mercury retrograde during libra season, a time when our mind and communication get foggy. Use this time to have those difficult conversations and get our thoughts organized before we add Mercury to the list of retrograde planets.

Sun in Leo

As the sun moves into Leo (July 23rd – August 22nd), we begin to regain the momentum and energy that we may have felt we lost during retrospective Cancer season. We took that time to slow down, feel our emotions, and go within. Now is our time to act, move and play. Leo is the sign that is ruled by the sun. This is the time when the weather is the warmest, which results in people acting warmer and more playful. After leaving the quiet, introverted, and internal moon ruled season of Cancer, we enter a fun sunshine- lead productive season. We feel more like ourselves and are ready to take on new hobbies, meet new people, and feel free of responsibilities as much as we can.

What is Leo and what does this mean? Leo is the Lion, the big hair, and warm coat. The brave and strong cat. A fixed fire sign. Fixed signs are the signs that fall right in the middle of seasons and for this fire sign, it falls in the summer, when the weather is warmest and everyone is ready to go. Leo is the actor, the performer, the big bold moves, passions, romance, fun and play. Fire doesn’t like to sit still.  It thrives off movement and passions. At its best, a Leo is loyal, energetic, a great leader, compassionate, big-hearted, generous, strong, fair, friendly, open hearted, passionate, optimistic, determined,  and so entertaining. At its worst, though, a Leo can be jealous, possessive, loud, self conscious, attention seeking, arrogant, stubborn, lazy, and competitive. Leo represents the 5th house of children, play, romance, fun, and performing. There is a childlike playfulness that comes out during Leo season and in people who have Leo in parts of their natal charts. It is a time where we feel connected to our inner child and want to share our passions with the world. Leos love to show off anything they can; their person, their clothes, and their talents. They want to make a mark on the world and show the world their big hearts.

Notable Transits – August

What should we look out for this month and how could it affect us?

Chiron retrograde is the most noteworthy transit this month. Chiron is an asteroid located between Saturn and Uranus.  Chiron, in our birth chart, represents the wounded healer and it is said if we discover our wounds and conquer them early, we can move forward and teach others how to do the same.  This retrograde that started on July 11th and will continue into December,  falls into the sign of Aries, another fire sign. When Chiron goes retrograde we tend to feel our wounds on a deeper level. We may have past traumas or fears show resurface either in the form of a new situation, in dreams, or fleeting thoughts that we may have thought we had forgotten about or at least already had dealt with and moved on from. This is a great time to take a step back and learn from our past mistakes and lessons so that we can move forward into a better healing space. Learning our lessons once and for all!

Sun in Cancer

As the sun moves into Cancer (June 21th – July 22nd), we begin this new season in a totally different headspace than the last. We are tired and drained from the long days and high energy of Gemini season, but most of all we are coming out of a Mercury retrograde and eclipse season. But we will circle back to that!  The beginning of cancer season is also the summer solstice. The longest day of the year. The sun is shining at its brightest in the sky. It’s the official beginning of summer and we are feeling the heat and emotions that come with it. It’s a time of celebration and welcoming of summer as we shift from the fast moving, highly active Gemini season into a much calmer and chill place with Cancer season. That excitement of the warm weather has turned into some extreme heats and creates a search for water to cool off and reset.

What is Cancer and what does this mean? Cancer is the crab, our shell we hide in. The mother, the nurturer, the caregiver. A cardinal water sign. Cardinal signs start each season and are great with new ideas, new beginnings and love new experiences. They, however, are not always great with the in-between busy work or the follow-through to keep their ideas going. Water is the element Cancer falls in, water is emotional, intuitive, and remembers all. It goes with the flow. At its best, a cancer is loyal, caring and loving. A low road of Cancer can be passive aggressive, overly sensitive, and prone to drastic mood swings. Cancer is ruled by the moon and feels emotions in cycles. This also means that they are attracted to big bodies of water and may feel most at home when they are able to escape to swim, sunbathe, or play in the ocean. The moon affects the tides like it does emotions, adding a sense of peace and calmness for a Cancer. Cancer represents the 4th house of home, family and roots. We may feel tired, sentimental, and introverted. We may feel inspired to stay home and clean, reorganize, decorate, or invite guests into our home. We feel more inclined to reach out to loved ones, friends, or family whom we may have lost touch with. Cancer season brings a need for closeness and peace in everyday and home life. Comfort is number one for a Cancer. This can mean anything from dressing comfortably, to making a change in the home to feel more comfortable, or just taking a little bit of extra time to go within and let yourself feel. Also, Cancers love anything comfort which relates to food. Cooking, grilling, potlucks, you name it. This is the time to gather and chill with the ones closest.

Notable Transits -July

What should we look out for this month and how could it affect us? Well, for better or for worse, there is currently a lot going on in the sky. There are currently many planets retrograding and keeping us from feeling at our fullest capacity. But right now is a great time to look within, meditate, and focus on yourself. Do all of that inner work now so we can play later.

Let’s start with the big one: Mercury.  Do we all know about our friend, Mercury, and the troublesome retrogrades that accompany this planet?  Mercury will finally go direct on june 22 in Gemini. There will be a week-long shadow period before things completely go back to normal. Mercury affects communication and the mind. It has been in its ruling sign of Gemini, which makes it a little easier on us all but still a time of feeling lost, confused, fuzzy. Communication and technology feel off, and nothing makes nearly as much sense as it used to. Mercury is the closest planet to us that goes retrograde and with it ruling our mind and communication, it’s an equation for us to feel its effects more impactful than any other planet.

Jupiter is currently going retrograde in Pisces on june 20th and will go direct in October, this is a time to be nicer to ourselves. Jupiter is luck and expansion and pisces is healing. As it moves back into Aquarius temporarily, we may see some Covid restrictions start to come back to keep the collective safe. Aquarius rules community and groups. Jupiter moving into pisces was a great time for movement and making us feel like “normal” is back. As restrictions may start to move back in, remember that it is temporary and it is for the best for the people. We will be completely back to normal in no time. Take this time to reflect on yourself, talk yourself up, work on personal healing and growth, so we can come back even stronger. Jupiter also rules travel, so taking some time to stay home wouldn’t be a bad idea. You may also experience some shifts in mood and experience a lack of energy.

Saturn has been retrograde since the end of may and will continue into october. Saturn is all about those life lessons. When Saturn retrogrades it’s a time to do all that inner work that we may have put off. Especially with it being in the sign of Aquarius. We find that it may be easier for us to make sense or compute these feelings like the logical aquarian so that we can learn our lessons easier and hopefully move forward.

Finally, we have Pluto, which has also been retrograding since April and will continue until October as well. Pluto can rule illness and chaos, but it also rules our fears. This is a good time to focus on something we were, at one point, afraid of, deal with any repressed fears, and move forward with a new perspective. Pluto retrograde is happening in the sign of Capricorn, which means we turn towards our work situations and business arrangements.

Look at your own personal chart or contact an Astrologer for a personalized horoscope and to find what area of life to expect changes in and to see where retrogrades fall in for you personally. Take some time for yourself, journal a little more, stay hydrated, and enjoy the pool or ocean. You deserve it!
